Role Rotation Latin School
Description
Role Rotation Latin School is an association dedicated to Latin and Afro-Caribbean dances, particularly salsa and bachata, practiced through role rotation.
The concept of role rotation is simple: allowing everyone to freely choose their role in the dance — leader or follower — and to switch between them at any time. Dance then becomes a space for personal expression, free from gender norms.
We promote an open vision of partner dancing:
a space where roles are not fixed, where they can evolve throughout a single dance, following one’s feelings and desires.
Through this approach, we aim to expand the codes of Latin dances, which are still often shaped by heteronormative and sometimes sexist norms, in order to break boundaries and offer a more inclusive perspective.
Our goal is to create a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment where everyone can be themselves without fear of judgment or being placed into boxes.
